Court interpreter for English.

Certified translations for English directly from a permanent court interpreter at Bilingua, a translation office in the Zagreb area — with seal and signature, no intermediary.

Along with German, English is one of the languages for which Bilingua's managing director is personally authorised, so we certify English documents in house, since 1994.

certified translation

Certification in house, not through a network.

For English, the certified translation is produced and certified by a permanent court interpreter — directly, with the seal and signature recognised before courts, notaries and authorities at home and abroad.

English is one of the two languages for which we are personally authorised. The full certification procedure is described on the certified translations page.

what we certify

Diplomas, contracts and personal documents for international use.

English is the language of international communication, so certified translations are required for a very wide range of procedures — from enrolment at foreign universities and the recognition of qualifications to business contracts and immigration proceedings.

Diplomas and certificates (enrolment, recognition) Birth and marriage certificates Certificate of no criminal record Contracts and powers of attorney Financial and business documentation Extracts from the court register Medical documentation

British, Irish and international authorities.

Certified translations into and out of English are accepted by authorities in the United Kingdom, Ireland and other countries, as well as by international institutions. Our managing director is also an accredited simultaneous interpreter for the institutions of the European Union for English.

We do not obtain Apostilles and do not determine the order of certifications; please check what is required, and in what order, with the institution receiving the document.

before you send

Two details that make certification straightforward.

Tell us where the translation is going. British, Irish, American and international institutions frame their requirements differently: some want the translation bound to the original, others to a notarised copy, and a university may ask for the diploma supplement as well.

A line naming the receiving institution lets us prepare the file in the form it expects.

Then send a complete, legible scan of every page, reverse sides and stamps included. Because English is certified in house, questions about terminology or formatting are settled directly with the court interpreter who signs the translation, and we come back to you as soon as possible with a quote and any point that needs clarifying.

Frequently asked questions

Have any questions?

Yes, UK institutions and universities generally accept translations certified by an appointed court interpreter, provided the certification identifies the translator and confirms the translation's accuracy. Bilingua certifies English in house through its own permanent court interpreter, appointed by the Croatian Ministry of Justice, who stamps, signs and binds the finished translation.
Yes. Most clients send a scan of their documents by email or through the contact form on bilingua.hr. Bilingua prepares the certified English translation in house, with the court interpreter's stamp, signature and binding, and you agree with the office how to receive the finished document. Originals are needed only when the receiving institution requires them.
An ordinary translation carries no official standing. A certified translation is produced by a permanent court interpreter appointed by the Croatian Ministry of Justice and is bound to the source document with a stamp, signature and certification clause, which is what courts, universities and authorities require. At Bilingua, certified English translations are produced in house.
