Simultaneous interpreting.

Simultaneous interpreting is real-time interpreting from a sound-insulated booth while participants listen through headsets. Bilingua has provided simultaneous interpreters for conferences, congresses and EU gatherings in Zagreb and across Croatia since 1994, with interpreters always working in pairs.

how it works

Translation at the same time as the speaker.

The interpreter listens to the presentation and renders the translation at the same time, so the course of the event is not extended.

The greatest advantage of simultaneous interpreting is precisely the saving of time: the programme runs without pauses for interpreting, regardless of the number of languages translated from and into, and the interpreters remain unobtrusive.

when it is used

Conferences, congresses and EU gatherings.

Simultaneous interpreting is the best choice when there are many participants, when keeping to the schedule matters and when interpreting is needed into several languages.

equipment and team

Booth, headsets/receivers and working in pairs.

Simultaneous interpreting requires a sound-insulated booth, microphones, headsets and receivers. Interpreters work in pairs and take turns every 20 to 30 minutes, because the work demands intense concentration and carries a high cognitive load.

remote

Remote simultaneous interpreting (RSI).

We also provide conference (simultaneous) interpreting online, as remote simultaneous interpreting (RSI). For virtual and hybrid events, we align the platform, languages and technical format with the client in advance. With solutions offering several interpretation channels, participants can choose the language they listen to, while the speaker, who can be at the physical venue or at a remote location, speaks without interruption.

We work within the technical possibilities of the event, for example via Zoom, Microsoft Teams or the client's existing setup, and before the event we define the languages, duration, number of interpreters, a connection test and how the audience joins live or online.
